The Critical Data Thinking & Communication Certificate Program requires the completion of three modules. (Modules may be taken independently for skill enhancement without receiving certification.) Module grading will be on a pass/fail basis.

Module 2: Data Visualization & Design

  • Ins & outs of data design
  • Good & bad data visualizations
  • Design & create data visualizations that are used
  • Avoiding data ethics, privacy and governance pitfalls
  • Moving from visualization to dashboard to story

Module 3: Critical Data Thinking & Communication (Capstone Project)

Solving real-world problems by:

  • Talking to stakeholders
  • Framing the problem
  • Identifying & locating data
  • Designing & creating visualizations for audiences
  • Designing & communicating the story
