The ACT prep course is an intensive test prep program that provides students with the tools they need to prepare for and ace the ACT. Minnesota State University Mankato offers the ACT prep course in two formats: ACT Blitz and ACT Summer Institute. The ACT Blitz is offered during the academic year and summer to prepare students to reach their chosen test dates at peak performance. Courses are strategically scheduled during the weeks leading up to the most popular ACT dates.

ACT Blitz - Academic Year Preparation!

The ACT Blitz is an intensive test prep program that provides students with the tools they need to prepare for and ace the ACT. The ACT Blitz is offered during the academic year to prepare students to reach their chosen test dates at peak performance. These courses meet once per week, allowing time to practice new skills between sessions. Our multi-week course format allows abundant opportunities for learning and for interacting with our expert instructors. Courses are strategically scheduled during the weeks leading up to the most popular ACT dates and include 16 hours of instruction.

ACT Summer Institutes - Prepare During Your Summer Break!

The Minnesota State University, Mankato ACT test preparation program covers skills needed for success on the ACT.

The ACT Summer Institute consists of 20 hours of classroom instruction covered in an intensive four-day format. Students receive in-depth review of the exam materials, insight into strategies for succeeding on standardized tests, and a comprehensive study plan. Class sessions analyze real test questions to show just how the skills are tested. The course fee includes all classroom and online sessions and course materials.

Students also receive access to online review sessions and open office hours during the time leading up to fall exam dates.

Who Should Take the MNSU ACT Test Prep Class?

The ACT Prep Course is ideal for students who need an intensive preparation program during the academic year. These courses meet once per week, allowing students time to also focus on their school work.

Students generally take the ACT during the junior year of high school. This course is ideal for rising juniors who are taking the test for the first time, for seniors and other high school students who have already taken the exam but wish to improve their scores, and for younger students who are curious about or want early preparation for the ACT.


The ACT Prep Courses Cover:

Math Topics

  • Practice solution techniques for problems containing variables.
  • Learn efficient approaches to complicated multi-step problems.
  • Discover tactics for translating difficult word problems into equations.

English Topics

  • Identify correct idiomatic speech in sentence correction problems.
  • Understand the basic concepts of rhetorical construction.
  • Learn which grammar errors are most frequently tested.

Reading Topics

  • Understand which part of the passage to read for reading comprehension questions.
  • Recognize the difference between global and local test items.
  • Identify passages written from the journalistic and engaged perspectives.

Science Reasoning Topics

  • Identify parameters for test items involving graphs and charts.
  • Interpolate or extrapolate answers from data given in tables.
  • Recognize the point of an experiment in research summary items.

General Topics

  • Use the process of elimination.
