Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette

Basic infection prevention measures are being implemented at the Minnesota State Mankato campus and additional locations.

Handwashing and Sanitizer

  • Employees, students and visitors are instructed to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water frequently throughout the day, but especially at the beginning and end of their time on campus, prior to eating and after using the toilet.
  • All visitors to campus facilities will be strongly encouraged to wash their hands prior to or immediately upon entering a facility.
  • All work and classroom facilities have hand-sanitizer dispensers located in each restroom.
  • Hand sanitizer will also be available through office services (sanitizers must be of greater than 60% alcohol).

Face Coverings

As of March 7, 2022 face coverings are no longer required at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Individuals may choose to continue wearing masks (except in circumstances where masks present a safety risk, such as certain lab contexts), and the University community will respect and support that choice.  In addition, the updated CDC guidance recommends that individuals who are immunocompromised or at a high risk for severe disease should talk to their healthcare provider about whether masks or other precautions are warranted. People with symptoms, a positive COVID test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should follow isolation or quarantine guidelines which may include wearing a mask.

Reporting Concerns

Students who wish to report concerns or issues about hygiene and respiratory etiquette can contact the Student Affairs Office at student-affairs@mnsu.edu or (507) 389-2121.

Employees who wish to report concerns or issues may do so by contacting the Provost’s Office at provost@mnsu.edu.

Sanitation supplies

The University has delivered boxes of supplies to offices across campus. Once your supplies in the box have become depleted, you may order more from Facilities.

Please take a look at what is in the box and take a conservative approach to only ordering what you truly need from the website.  This to insure we have adequate supplies for all at the beginning of the semester.

SANITIATION SUPPLIES REQUEST FORM

Sanitizing is using a disinfectant to reduce the level of germs on a surface.

Disinfection is using a disinfectant per the manufacture's guidelines to destroy all germs on a surface. The distinction is usually the amount of time (dwell time) the product is allowed to remain in contact with the surface.
