The Elizabeth and Wynn Kearney International Center would like to congratulate you on being accepted at Minnesota State University, Mankato. International students are important to us and we are pleased that you have chosen our University to pursue your education.

The Kearney International Center staff is prepared to assist you in enriching your academic experience at our University. We will also help you get adjusted to your environment as quickly as possible. We can assist you in solving problems when they arise, and we will advise you regarding the requirements for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The information on this page is very important to ensure that your study at our University begins well.

NOTE: All undergraduate non-native English speakers with a TOEFL score of less than 575 paper-based, 232 computer-based, 89 internet-based, or 6.5 IELTS will be required to take an English Placement Test. You should also be prepared to pay the mandatory university health insurance premium (approximately $919 annually) beginning fall semester. Semester orientation, tuition, and other fees will be due during orientation unless you sign-up for a payment installment plan. In addition, we encourage you to bring traditional clothing, photos, videos, etc. of your country to share at culture events on campus.

Please follow these steps in order to prepare for your studies at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

  1. Get your I-20
  2. Pay your SEVIS Fee
  3. Apply for your Visa
  4. Please reserve your flight based on manditory Orientation dates
  5. Arrange your Housing in advance of your expected arrival
  6. If you forsee a delay in your arrival follow the Late Arrivals process

When you arrive at Minnesota State Mankato it is very important that you check in at the Kearney International Center-Centennial Student Union, Room 250-to collect your orientation packet.

When checking in you must bring:

-All I-20/DS-2019 issued to you
-Your passport with I-94 card
-Any other admissions related documents (transcripts, immunization forms, etc)
