StarID Password Reset

  1. Open a web browser of your choosing, and navigate to https://link.mnsu.edu/starid.
  2. Click Reset my Password.

  1. If you have and know your Social Security Number (SSN), please choose from the following options:

Note: If you do not know your Social Security Number, or do not have a Social Security Number, please proceed to step 4.

    1. Click I know my Tech ID.
    1. Enter your Tech ID and College / University in the designated boxes, and click Continue.

Note: If you do not know your Tech ID, you can find it on the front of your MavCard.

      1. Enter your SSN in the designated box and click Continue.

      1. Proceed to step 5 of these instructions.

•  Click I have my library card.

      1. Locate your Barcode number on the back of your MavCard.

      1. Enter your barcode from the library card and College / University in the designated boxes, and click Continue.

      1. Enter your SSN in the designated box and click Continue.

      1. Proceed to step 5 of these instructions.

•  Click I know my state employee number (8 digits).

      1. Enter your state employee number and College / University in the designated boxes, and click Continue.

      1. Enter your SSN in the designated box and click Continue.

      1. Proceed to step 5 of these instructions.

•  If you do not know your Social Security Number, or do not have a Social Security Number, please choose from the following options:

    1. Click I know my email address.
    1. Enter an email address that you have associated with your account, and click Continue.

Note: If your MNSU password has expired, do not enter your MNSU email address as you will not be able to access the email.

      1. Once you received the email, locate the code and copy it to the designated box (The “I have a verification code” section should have expanded).

Note: If you do not have a separate email address on file or are not receiving a code, please visit the registrar’s office located on the first floor of the Wigley Administration building.

      1. Enter your last name or email address that you used in the corresponding box, and click continue.

      1. Proceed to step 5 of these instructions.

•  Enter and Confirm your New Password.

Note: Passwords must follow the following guidelines:

    1. At least 8 characters long
    2. Contain no part of your name
    3. May not have previously been used
    4. Must include at least 3 of the following 4:
    1. Special Characters
    2. Numbers
    3. Lower Case Letters
    4. Upper Case Letters

  1. Select a preferred email for notifications, read the Acceptable Use Policy and place a checkmark in the box if you agree to it, and click Set Password.
