Classroom and Lab Technology

End-Point Computing MNSU - Classroom available

The Classroom and Computer Lab service provides consultation, support, troubleshooting, and planning for existing and new technology enabled classrooms and computer labs. This service is available for classrooms, conference rooms, computer kiosks, computer and other specialized labs. Technology upgrades can be requested for existing technology enabled classrooms to be updated or upgraded with new equipment.

 

Equipment in technology-enabled classrooms and computer labs are updated on a recycling schedule. Requests to upgrade technology-enabled classrooms or computer labs with updated or new equipment may also be submitted to ITS.

Service Categories
  • Consultation and Design

    The IT Solutions team will work with you to identify solutions for your specific needs around innovative classroom technologies. This can include everything from classroom layout to the available technology infrastructure.

  • Rental, Classroom

    "IT Solutions will rent the Academic Computer Center labs to external parties. See service charges above in the service description for applicable rates.
     
    Scheduling Information:
    1. Scheduling requests go to University Scheduling. http://www.mnsu.edu/scheduling/
    2. There is an expectation of at least a two (2) week lead-time for lab setup and support.
    3. Canceled reservations after 24 hours will have a cancellation fee of $100
     
    Customers are responsible for any damage that occurs to University owned assets and property while using our facilities, including damage incurred from consumables (coffee, soda, food, etc.).
     
    IT Solutions reserves the right to deny rental request.
     
    The rental cost includes:
    1. Access to allow guests by creating a temporary guest account on our network.
    2. This will typically only allow access to the software on the machine and the Internet.
    3. A staff member helping everyone get logged in and going.
    4. Standard IT Solutions Center support provided throughout the rental period.
    5. Labs will be available during normal hours of operation.
    6. Storage on local machines that is wiped out nightly.
    7. The ability to project images is available in most labs.
    8. Most rooms are supplied with whiteboards and markers.
    9. Basic comfort facilities are available adjacent to most computer labs.
     
    The rental cost includes:

    1. Availability outside normal operating hours of the labs.
    2. If a there is a requirement for an IT staff member to be present the entire time. There will be additional fees for elevated support during a rental period.
    3. Additional software installation requests require an additional fee.
    4. Printing access is at additional cost.
    5. Additional hardware installation available upon request and for an additional charge. Examples: monitors, mice, webcams etc.

  • Software Upgrades and Requests

    Faculty members may request that certain software is required in classrooms and labs around campus.

  • Support and Troubleshooting

    The IT Solutions team will be available to help troubleshoot and respond quickly to classroom technology issues.

  • Virtual Labs

    IT Solutions will provide access to select up-to-date applications through our virtualized lab services.

Services Included
Lab Refresh Cycle:
Standard campus replacement cycle of four (4) years. Every four (4) year we will work with departments to identify the specific hardware requirements for the software used in the program. Each year IT Solutions will determine the cost of a recommended computer configuration for the campus. If a department would like to upgrade options they will pay the difference in cost for computer upgrades.

IT will cover costs of technology equipment repairs.

Service Charges:

In the case of specialized classroom equipment or if the customer decides to go beyond our standard computer models there may be additional charges.
The customer is also responsible for the cost to license software that is specific to her or his needs and doesn't exist on a campus-wide agreement.

Time required for resolution of service calls will vary, depending upon the nature of the problem and availability of personnel. While most problems will be resolved immediately, others may require a scheduled appointment.

When problem resolution goes beyond our local expertise we will then work with the external vendors outside our stated response times.

Space or equipment rental:
Daily Rental - $500 a day
Software Installation - Estimates based on software and installation time.
Onsite Technical Support - $80 per hour

Classroom Service Level Agreement:
*Initial Response Time 15 minutes
* Normal Resolution Time - 3 days based on the IT Solution Center Hours.

*Initial Response Time 15 minutes
* Important resolution time - 4 hours based on the IT Solution Center Hours.

*Initial Response Time 15 minutes
* Critical resolution time - 30 minutes based on University Business Hours
