A special presentation for members only

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Dreamers: Facts and Experiences.

Friday, May 11, 2-4 p.m. at the Children’s Museum, 224 Lamm St.

This is a special opportunity for our members and is free of charge.

We will be examining the original proposed need for DACA, legislation for DACA membership application and, especially important, how to maintain membership. Georgia Holmes, an attorney and vice president of Mankato Area Lifelong Learners, will discuss specifics of the program and its current status. Rob Murray will then introduce Diana Rojo-Garcia, a recent graduate of MSU, Mankato with a Mass Media degree and part-time Free Press writer. Diana’s by-line article in the March 4 Free Press outlined her experiences since arriving in the U.S. over 20 years ago. This special presentation will give our members the opportunity to hear and interact with two individuals who have been closely involved with DACA from different orientations and will give our members a chance to broaden their understanding of a political direction that has seen profound differences in public discussion.

Please contact the office at 507-389-2011 if you plan to attend to ensure adequate seating.
