Chiarina Piano Quartet

Music Education majors can hear exciting chamber music by performers who are also educators at the college level. The Chiarina Piano Quartet's members are on the faculties at Minnesota State, Ohio State, Carleton College, Macalester College, and Augsburg College.

Jazz in New Orleans

Minnesota State Mankato music students in New Orleans attended a jazz conference, performed at a club in the French Quarter, took clinics from nationally recognized jazz educators, and enjoyed the fantastic New Orleans culture.

Our performance was at Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse.

2010 Christmas Choral Concert

Music Education choral majors have the opportunity to perform several times each semester in three choral ensembles. Our Concert Choir has been recognized throughout the region for its excellence. Learning to make great music is a vital part of the education process at Minnesota State.

Historic England

Music teachers in the K-12 classroom explore music in different historical periods.  We have the opportunity to experience European history and culture through tours that are offered each year. And because this is part of the curriculum, your financial aid can be adjusted to cover the cost of the tour. From a recent trip to England: Roman Baths in Bath (left) and at Stonehenge (right)

Minnesota State Mankato Student Opera Production

Students seen here in Mozart’s opera Cosi fan Tutte learn to create entire performances by working in all aspects of production. Music education students get experience in musical preparation, coaching, directing, building sets, lighting, stage managing, scheduling, performance, promotion and a myriad of other details needed to mount a full show.
