Savage’s Stacy Pearson Receives Distinguished Alumni Award
One of 11 2013 alumni award winners.

Mankato, Minn. – Stacy Pearson of Savage, Minn., received the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Humanitarian Award from Minnesota State University, Mankato last week.
Pearson, a project manager at General Mills in Minneapolis, is one of 11 2013 alumni award winners. She was honored at an April 26 ceremony hosted by the Minnesota State Mankato Alumni Association.
Humanitarian Awards go to Minnesota State Mankato graduates whose lives exemplify service to humankind, and who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to humanitarian causes.
Pearson graduated from Minnesota State Mankato in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in computer management information systems.
Pearson’s passion for volunteering began at Minnesota State Mankato, where she was active in the Golden Key International Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
Pearson continued her commitment to volunteerism at General Mills, where she has been recognized with the company’s “Giving Back” Award. She joined the Minnesota Women of Today, an organization that focuses on community service, personal growth and friendships, in 2003 and has since served as chapter president and has been honored with the Key Woman Award. She started a chapter in her local community of Savage in 2010, and she appeared on the cover of the December 2010 issue of “Savvy Magazine” for her community service.
Pearson also started a blog called “The Blogunteer” that features profiles of volunteers and non-profits and highlights organizations and individuals already making a difference in society. Pearson said the goal of The Blogunteer is to inspire more people to volunteer and help promote volunteer organizations. Almost 200 groups and individuals have been highlighted since the blog’s inception in July 2010.
