Sept. 14-30: Tad Carpenter Creative Exhibit

Artist's lecture set for 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28 in Ostrander Auditorium.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Art announced that the work of designer and illustrator Tad Carpenter is featured in an art exhibit, “Tad Carpenter Creative,” on display from Monday, Sept. 14 through Wednesday, Sept. 30 in Minnesota State Mankato’s Conkling Gallery.

Carpenter’s work is on display at 139 Nelson Hall, the Conkling Gallery, during gallery hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday).

Carpenter will present an artist’s lecture at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28 in Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium, with a reception following. The exhibit, artist’s lecture and reception are free and open to the public.

Tad Carpenter is a designer, illustrator, author and teacher based in Kansas City, Mo. According to a biography on his website, www.tadcarpenter.com: “Tad was lucky enough to grow up the son of two artists smack dab in the middle of the Midwest. His father is an illustrator and has been a creative director for Hallmark Cards for nearly 40 years. His mother is a talented fiber artist. Surrounding himself with creatives, Tad also married a designer, Jessica.”

According to his website, Tad Carpenter Creative’s overall approach to branding, strategy, and design have gained clients ranging from Target, Macy’s, Land of Nod, Rayban, Nick Jr, MTV and Adobe. Carpenter’s work has appeared in numerous publications and he has written/illustrated a number of children’s books in the market today. Since 2009, Tad also teaches graphic design at the University of Kansas.

Carpenter’s work is on display as part of the Nadine B. Andreas Artist and Scholar Endowment Program. The Nadine B. Andreas Endowment supports the College of Arts and Humanities by helping to bring guest artists and scholars to campus.
