Sibley Park Cleanup 2017 a Success!

Sibley Park Cleanup 2017 a Success

The Community Engagement Office hosted it's Third Annual Sibley Park Cleanup on Saturday, September 16, 2017. All totaled, 48 volunteers completed aproximately 150 hours of service.

Karen Anderson, Assistant Director of Community Engagement, said, "We were excited to partner with so many Minnesota State Mankato students on this venture.  Several students from several environmentally related student organziations stepped up to take leadership on this project. Eight student site leaders lead the projects. That was actually an idea shared by student leaders after the 2016 event."

"We realize about 100 students, in groups and as individuals, sought to sign up this year," she continued.  "Unfortunately, the City of Mankato gave us all of their available projects at Sibley Park and there was not a need for any more volunteers. I suggest to those students unable to volunteer at the September 16 event may consider joining Mavs In Action to help plan future environmental projects."  Mavs In Action, the students who plan the service events through the Community Engagement Office, meet every Thursday at 4 pm in the Community Engagement Office, 173 CSU.
