Homecoming Food Drive Scheduled for October 3-8

The Cram A Van Food Drive is scheduled to take place from October 3 to 8 on the MSU, Mankato campus. This annual event is taking place in conjunction with MSU, Mankato’s Homecoming festivities.

This year's drive will benefit agencies serving children and youth in the Mankato area. Food donations will be distributed to the BackPack Food Program of Feeding Our Communities Partners, the REACH Youth Drop-In Center, Campus Cupboard and the Campus Kitchen at MSU, Mankato.

Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday, October 3 – 7, between 11 am – 1 pm at the Cram A Van booth on the MSU, Mankato mall, or at the Cram A Van booth at the Homecoming football game until half-time. Volunteers will also pick up donations along the Homecoming parade route on Saturday morning.

Students will also host a social media campaign, #hungerfighters, to draw attention to food insecurity. Participants will share why they fight hunger, and the photos will be posted to the MSU, Mankato Community Engagement Office Facebook Page. Students plan to draw attention to the special needs of childhood and youth food insecurity, including college students.

“Because this donation drive benefits children and youth, the needs are a little different from past drives. I would encourage people to think about who will use the donation when they make their donation, “ said Karen Anderson, Assistant Director of Community Engagement. All items should be unopened, in good condition and not expired.
