Campus Kitchen Garden Clean Up

Time to get the garden ready for winter

It's that time of the harvest season to do a little spruce up of the Campus Kitchen Garden. The clean up will take place on Thursday, September 21, from 1-2 pm at the Campus Kitchen Garden. Volunteers interested in helping should sign up through the CEO portal of OrgSync. Volunteer opportunities are limited to those listed in the OrgSync event page.

"Because we don't use herbicides or pesticides, pulling weeds is a necessary part of our program," said Karen Anderson, Assistant Director of Community Engagment and Manager of the Campus Kitchen.  "Harvest time is tricky as you never quite know how to predict the weather for the growing season.

It's also good timing as the garden will be featured in an upcoming campus tour.

The American Planning Association, Minnesota Chapter, will include the Campus Kitchen Garden as part of their tour of Minnesota State University, Mankato's Climate Action Plan tour. The tour will feature several MSU, Mankato locations that contribute to our sustainability. The Campus Kitchen Garden.

Students interested in volunteering should sign up through the CEO portal on the OrgSync site. For more information about the tour, contact Dr. Russell Fricano, Urban and Regional Studies Institute. For more information about the Campus Kitchen Garden and the Campus Kitchen, contact Karen Anderson.
