Red Cross health-care professionals will be at Minnesota State University, Mankato Monday, June 27, to collect Bloodmobile blood donations.

The blood drive, sponsored by Minnesota State Mankato’s Upward Bound, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union lower level, between the food court and game room.

Red Cross officials point out that blood supplies are low because of recent tornado disasters in Minneapolis, Missouri and elsewhere. Students, faculty, staff and the public are urged to donate.

Participants may make appointments by calling (507) 389-1211 or clicking on and entering sponsor code 5952. Walk-ins also are welcome.

Upward Bound, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, is intended to stimulate and motivate low-income, first-generation college prospects to complete high school and pursue post-secondary education. The Minnesota State Mankato program serves students in high schools at Blue Earth, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial, Madelia, Mankato East and West, Maple River and Riverbend Academy.

Those who want more information about the drive may contact Gladys Barbeau at (507) 389-1211.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,393 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 32 state institutions.
