With a little help from Edina, enrollment at Minnesota State Mankato is on the rise.

Minnesota State Mankato's total enrollment for 2011-'12 is 15,547 students — a nearly 1 percent increase from last year. But that figure is bolstered by the continued expansion of Minnesota State Mankato's three-year-old satellite campus in Edina, which is called Minnesota State Mankato at 7700 France and is named after the street address for the office building it occupies.

“This has definitely been in the plans,” said Becky Copper-Glenz, dean for the College of Extended Learning.

Minnesota State Mankato began leasing the Edina site in 2008, opening with about 420 students, six classrooms, a computer lab and some conference rooms. This year, however, the campus enrolled nearly 700 students, and officials project continued enrollment increases of 10 percent annually.
