Jazz groups to perform year's first concert Oct. 11

Campus Jazz Groups will perform their first show of the academic year Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Jazz Groups will perform their first show of the academic year Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center.

The performance will feature the Jazz Mavericks Big Band and jazz combos, directed by music faculty member Douglas Snapp, and the Jazz Lab Band, directed by senior music education and performance major Daniel Nonweiler.

The event also will feature the Jazz/Pop Singers and the Jazz/Pop Women’s Choir, directed by Snapp.

The groups will sing traditional jazz songs and some well-known pop tunes. Junior music education major Kyle Hanson will perform an original bass guitar composition solo.

Concert admission is $9; $7 for students with a valid MavCard and $6 for other students (K-12) and children. Those who wish to purchase tickets online may go to Those who want more information may call the Performance Series office at (507) 389-5549.
