University faculty trio to present music recital April 29

Trio to perform on violin, cello, piano.

The Department of Music will present a faculty trio concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29 in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts.

The concert will feature Lydia Miller, violin; Joseph Rodgers, cello; and David Viscoli, piano.

The concert program features the Piano Trio in E minor, Op. 67 by Dmitri Shostakovich and the Piano Trio in B major, Op. 8 by Johannes Brahms.

Lydia Miller teaches at Minnesota State University, Mankato, the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and maintains a private studio in her suburban home. Her students have won numerous competitions and can be heard playing in the top youth orchestras in Minnesota.

At Minnesota State Mankato, Joseph Rodgers directs the University Orchestra and teaches cello, bass and music theory. He has been appointed Music Director of the Mankato Area Youth Symphony and Assistant Conductor of the Mankato Symphony Orchestra effective fall, 2009.

David Viscoli has won numerous awards and piano competitions and regularly participates in many summer music festivals. His students have also won numerous awards. He is currently Professor of Piano at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
