New Bus Wrap Unveiled in School Colors

Purple and Gold buses will transport students to campus beginning Aug. 27.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Media Relations Office News Release, 7-25-2012

Minnesota State University, Mankato President Richard Davenport inspected a new City of Mankato bus branded in Minnesota State Mankato colors on Tuesday in front of Centennial Student Union.

Joining Davenport in inspecting the bus were students, staff and campus administrators.

The bus is one of five city buses the University is leasing to provide bus service to and from campus beginning Aug. 27.

The University paid for the bus wraps as part of a marketing initiative.

The bus wraps were not paid for by students and were not in any way funded by the Green Transportation Fee that will go into effect this fall.

The Green Transportation Fee, paid for by students with a 75-cent per credit fee, pays for expanded bus routes and service, to include unlimited free rides for students showing their MavCards in addition to improved bike racks on campus.

KEYC-TV's Courtney Johns reported on the new bus. Click here and then on the photo of the bus to see the KEYC-TV story. (Note: KEYC-TV stories are posted for a limited time.)
