The Minnesota River Valley Wind Ensemble (MNRVWE) will perform on Sunday, Sept. 30 at the Earley Center for Performing Arts.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Music Department News Release, 9-17-2012

MANKATO, Minn. -- The Minnesota River Valley Wind Ensemble (MNRVWE) will perform on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.

The ensemble is a semi-professional group comprised of faculty, community members, music teachers, music students, and professional musicians. According to Dr. Roisum-Foley, the group’s conductor, “It is a very diverse program that blends core wind band works with new works, and a couple of borrowed works from vocal and orchestral repertoire. Roisum continued, “We are in our eighth season and are thrilled about the opportunity to perform challenging music with a group of very talented musicians.”

The MNRVWE rehearses only four or five times before a concert.

Music Education student Gretchen Poster says, “I feel as if it is no rush to only have that many rehearsals. As long as you’re prepared, it makes the rehearsals run smoother and more fun. I do find the music more challenging. Working with other musicians besides students helps me pay more attention to articulation, dynamics, style, and listening. It improves my musicality and I am always up for a challenge.”

Concert admission is $9, $7 for students with a valid MavCARD. Discount tickets areavailable online for University students. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to For more information, call the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
