Oct. 13: 5k Run/Walk for Charity
Campaign hopes to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT).

Mankato, Minn. – A Minnesota State University, Mankato recognized student organization is holding a 5k run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 13 as part of a fundraiser for “The Eliminate Project,” an effort to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT), a painful disease that kills one baby every nine minutes, or 160 newborns each day.
Minnesota State Mankato’s Circle K International club, a recognized student organization, and the Minnesota-Dakota District of Circle K are hosting the 5k, which will be held on the Minnesota State Mankato fitness trail behind the Gage towers. The registration fee is $20 before Oct. 5 and $25 for late registration. The first 50 registrants will receive a t-shirt.

As the collegiate level of Kiwanis, Circle K International is partnering with UNICEF in a global campaign to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. As the world’s largest single donor, Kiwanis International plans to raise $110 million by 2015 for the project, which will ultimately protect at least 61 million women and their future babies who are at risk of this deadly disease.
