Oct. 5-7: Midwest Feminist Conference

Mankato, Minn. – The Feminist Majority Foundation’s second annual Midwest Feminist Conference returns to Minnesota State University, Mankato from Oct. 5 to Oct. 7. The event kicks off with Open Stage Night at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at the Coffee Hag in Mankato and continues Oct. 6-7 in Centennial Student Union.

The conference will bring together activists from around the Midwest to meet and share meals, hear from multiple speakers, including keynote speaker Andrea Gibson (pictured left), and participate in educational dialogues, workshops and skill-sharing groups. Among the topics and themes to be explored through conference workshops are feminism, gender, race and politics.

Gibson, the first winner of the Women’s World Poetry Slam, has ventured coast to coast with powerful readings on war, class, gender, bullying, white privilege, sexuality, love and spirituality. Her work is featured on the BBC, Huffington Post, Air America, C-SPAN and Free Speech TV.
