Oct. 10: Leif Erikson Day Lecture

Guest speaker Eszter Szalczer, a faculty member at the State University of New York at Albany, will give a Leif Erikson Day lecture titled "From kitchen sink to dream landscape: How August Strindberg changed the shape of theatre" on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. in Armstrong Hall 323. A reception will follow.
Szalczer will discuss August Strindberg, a Swedish playwright, on Leif Erikson Day to honor Strindberg's Scandinavian heritage. Leif Erickson Day is observed to celebrate the Norwegian explorer who first brought Europeans to North America.
Eszter Szalczer holds a doctorate in theatre from the City University of New York and a doctorate in comparative literature from the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. A professor of dramatic literature, theatre history and other theatre arts, she has received many prestigious awards for her published works. She is an internationally published theatre scholar, specializing in modern drama and performance.
