Women's Soccer Ranked No. 1 in Nation

Mavericks earn first No. 1 ranking in program history.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Athletic Department News Release

Mankato, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University, Mankato women’s soccer team earned its first number one ranking in program history, moving up -- for the sixth straight week -- two spots to first in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Division II Poll released Tuesday, Oct. 16. The Mavericks are only the third team in Minnesota State Mankato history to achieve the top spot in the nation and first since women’s basketball was atop the national poll on March 31, 2009.

The Mavericks are 11-0-1 in their last 12 games and have won 10 straight matches, eight via shutout.

The highest previous ranking Minnesota State Mankato had earned was third in the NSCAA just a week ago.

Minnesota State Mankato is the lone NSIC team in the national poll but is joined by fellow Central Region members #9 Southwestern Oklahoma State and #18 Central Oklahoma.

MSU (12-1-1, 11-0-0 NSIC) returns to the road Saturday afternoon in an NSIC contest against the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
