Nov. 24: Football Team Asks for Fan Support
Mavericks host Northwest Missouri State in NCAA playoff game at noon Saturday.
Minnesota State University, Mankato Athletics, 11-21-2012
Dear Maverick Football Fan:
It has been a very special year for our football team and I want to personally thank everyone for your much appreciated support of our players. Behind a tremendous level of backing from our fan base, we have been able to succeed at a high level so far this season, capturing outright Northern Sun South Division and Conference championships, while achieving a perfect 11-0 record for the first time in school history. And while many of the team’s bigger goals remain ahead of us, one of our first big opportunities is close at hand.
After receiving a first round bye last weekend, your Mavericks will face an outstanding opponent in Northwest Missouri State University this Saturday (November 24) at 12:00pm in Blakeslee Stadium. The Bearcats advanced after a 35-0 first round win over Harding, and will bring a rich playoff tradition and a large and faithful fan following into Mankato this weekend.
Our team has worked very hard to earn the chance to play at HOME on Saturday. I understand that Thanksgiving weekend can sometimes present unique challenges for the host institution in terms of attracting a large crowd, as many students are traditionally gone from campus and some might have other commitments that can impact attendance.
I am confident, however, that our “MavFamily” will rally around this team and embrace this chance to demonstrate what a true HOMEFIELD advantage Blakeslee Stadium can be when it is filled with PURPLE and GOLD PRIDE. I ask your help in supporting the hometown TEAM (Together Everyone’s A Maverick!) this weekend.
Thanks again for helping to make this season a success. I hope the upcoming holiday is filled with good times spent with friends and family and I know that our players will appreciate your support at Blakeslee Stadium this Saturday afternoon.
