Mavericks Sixth in National All-Sports Standings

Football team finishes third nationally.

Minnesota State University, Mankato’s football, women’s soccer and men’s cross country teams provided the impetus for the Mavericks placing sixth in standings recently released for the 2012-13 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup.

Minnesota State Mankato received at total of 210 points from the performance of the school’s football team turning in a third-place national finish, the women’s soccer team placing fifth and the men’s cross country team ranking 20th at this year’s national meet.

Colorado School of Mines ranks first after the completion of the fall season with 333.5 points. Grand Valley State (Mich.) is in second place with 280 points, Tampa (Fla.) is third at 253, West Texas A&M is fourth with 247, Shippensburg (Pa.) is fifth with 237 and the Mavericks stand tied with Adams State (Colo.) with 210 points.

The first Division II winter standings will be released Thursday, March 14.
