March 19: NCAA Men's Basketball Region Final

Mavericks host Winona State at 7 p.m. at Taylor Center. Trip to NCAA quarterfinals at stake.

The Minnesota State University, Mankato men's basketball team (28-4 overall) defeated Harding 86-65 on Sunday to advance to the NCAA Division II Central Region championship game against Winona State, which will tip off at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Taylor Center in Mankato.

Minnesota State Mankato (28-4 overall) is the top-seeded team in the regional, while Winona State (26-7 overall) is the second-seeded team in the regional.

The winner of Tuesday's game between the Mavericks and Warriors will move on to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals in Louisville, Ky., to take on either West Liberty or Indiana (Pa.) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. Minnesota State Mankato will be looking for its second trip to the "Elite Eight." The Mavericks did it previously in 2011, advancing to the national semifinals that season.

Minnesota State Mankato and its Tuesday opponent--Winona State--split two regular season games, with the Mavericks winning 78-70 on Dec. 7 in Mankato and the Warriors winning 75-64 on Feb. 16 in Winona.

Minnesota State Mankato is making its 10th appearance in the NCAA tournament. MSU owns a 14-9 (.609) overall record in NCAA tournament play.
