Baseball Plays Thursday at D-II World Series

The Mavericks have won their first two games in the tournament.

Mankato, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University, Mankato baseball team defeated Franklin Pierce 10-5 on Monday at the NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship in Cary, N.C., to remain undefeated (2-0) in the tournament.

Senior Lucas Skjefte (pictured at left) was three-of-five with three extra-base hits, three runs and three RBI in in Minnesota State Mankato's 10-5 victory.

The Mavericks opened play in the double-elimination tournament with a 2-0 win over Grand Valley State on Saturday.

The Mavericks will next play Thursday at 6 p.m. against an opponent to be determined, with a berth in the NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship game on the line.
