Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato will hold a community meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12 in Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium to provide information about the upcoming Gage residence hall implosion to residents of area neighborhoods.

The general public is encouraged to attend this free public meeting, which is intended to inform and answer any questions that area neighborhood residents may have about the implosion.

Topics to be discussed at Wednesday’s meeting include overall safety measures that will be taken before, during and after the demolition, protecting the Gage site and surrounding area, the process of preparing the area for demolition, traffic, dust and more.

Information will be presented by representatives from the demolition contractor, Dore & Associates, and the company responsible for the implosion, Controlled Demolition, Inc.

Also available to provide information at the meeting will be representatives from Minnesota State Mankato Facilities Management and FEH Associates, Inc., the architectural and structural engineering firm contracted by the university to oversee preparation of the buildings for demolition.

The Gage implosion has been planned for 9:30 a.m. on either Saturday, June 29 or Sunday, June 30, with weather conditions the primary factor in determining the safest time for the event. If weather conditions prevent a June 29 or 30 implosion, the implosion will occur at a similar time on the following weekend (July 6-7).
