Sept. 29: Minnesota River Valley Wind Ensemble

Performance set for 3 p.m at Halling Recital Hall.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music News Release, 9-17-2013

MANKATO, Minn. - The Minnesota River Valley Wind Ensemble (MNRVWE) will perform on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 3 p.m. at the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.

The ensemble is a semi-professional group comprised of faculty, community members, music teachers, music students, and professional musicians. According to Dr. Amy Roisum-Foley, the group’s conductor, “It is a very diverse program that blends core wind band works with new works.” Roisum continued, “We are in our ninth season and are thrilled about the opportunity to perform challenging music with a group of very talented musicians.”

Music Education student Gretchen Poster finds the music challenging. Poster says, “Working with older musicians in addition to students helps me pay more attention to articulation, dynamics, style, and listening. It improves my musicality and I am always up for a challenge.”

Concert admission is $9, $7 for students with a valid MavCARD. Discount tickets are available online for University students. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to For more information, call the Performance Series office, (507) 389-5549.
