Sept. 23-28: Homecoming Week
Homecoming kick-off event set for Monday, Sept. 23 on campus mall.

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato President Richard Davenport and City of Mankato Councilman Chris Frederick will announce the opening of Homecoming Week during a short program on Monday, Sept. 23 on the campus mall.
The Sept. 23 Homecoming kick-off event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature free cake, music from the athletic band, and opportunities for attendees to tie dye t-shirts and meet Homecoming Royalty candidates.
During a program that begins at noon, Davenport will speak and Frederick will read a city proclamation of the Sept. 23-28 “Minnesota State University, Mankato Homecoming Week.” Student Homecoming chair Leanne Walterson will also speak.
The theme of Homecoming 2013 is “Maverick Territory: Paint the Town.”
Homecoming events—all open to the public—begin with the Monday, Sept. 23 kick-off, and conclude on Saturday, Sept. 28 with a 5K run, free community pancake breakfast, parade, athletic events and carnival. A Nashville country band, Scarletta, will perform at the carnival from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Additional events include class and program reunions, a celebration of KMSU Radio’s 50-year celebration, and activities planned by IMPACT, the student programming board of the Centennial Student Union. For a complete list of Homecoming events, including times and locations, please click here.
Minnesota State Mankato’s Homecoming has been in existence since 1928. Homecoming week offers students and alumni a way to showcase their pride and school spirit. Homecoming also allows the greater Mankato community a chance to learn about the university and take part in the celebrations.
