Oct. 7-23: ‘Object Maker’ Randy Regier exhibit
Artist lecture set for Oct. 7.

Mankato, Minn. – Artist Randy Regier, who according to his publicity materials has built full-sized spaceships, racecars and a host of “phantom” vintage toys and their respective packaging, will give an artist lecture at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 in Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus.
The title of Regier’s presentation is “The Sale Begins When the Customer Says ‘No’: A Real Fiction.” A reception will follow in the University’s Conkling Gallery, located in Nelson Hall.
Regier, who lives in Wichita, Kan., will also conduct a studio residency on Oct. 7-8, and his work will be displayed in Conkling Gallery from Oct. 7 to Oct. 23.
Regier has a bachelor of fine arts degree from Kansas State University and a master of fine arts degree from Maine College of Art. According to his bio, he is an object maker, but primarily interested in how they support and relate to constructed narratives.
Regier, who was the Visual Arts Fellow of Maine in 2009, has received numerous grants, including a 2009 ArtMatters grant that funded a toy project in Madrid (still ongoing), and has exhibited in Kansas City, Mo.; Dallas; Chicago; Boston; Portland, Maine; Providence, R.I.; Raleigh, N.C.; and New York City, among other places.
