New Director of Centennial Student Union and Student Activities
Mark Constantine brings more than 30 years of student affairs experience to position.

Mankato, Minn. — Minnesota State University, Mankato Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management David Jones announced that Mark Constantine (pictured) has been named director of Centennial Student Union and Student Activities.
Constantine, who began his duties on Oct. 14, has more than 30 years of student affairs experience at several institutions, including the College of William & Mary, the University of Tennessee and Shippensburg University.
He is originally from Jamestown, N.Y., a town approximately 79 miles south of Buffalo, N.Y.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of Mark Constantine as the new director of the Centennial Student Union and Student Activities,” said Jones. “Mark has a rich history of being an involved leader in his field and is the recipient of the Founders Award, the National Association for Campus Activities’ highest honor.”
Before coming to Minnesota State Mankato, Constantine had been serving since April as a reference administrator for The Spelman and Johnson Group, a specialized higher education search firm.
Prior to that, he was executive director of student activities and unions and assistant vice president for student affairs at the College of William & Mary, where he served from 1997 to 2012. His duties at William & Mary included supervising Student Activities, University Centers, Campus Recreation, Scheduling, Student Fee Accounting Office, Clubs and Organizations, Greek Life, Student Government, Publications and Leadership Programs.
Constantine was director of student activities at the University of Tennessee from 1989 to 1997 and associate director of university union and student activities at Shippensburg University from 1982 to 1989. He also worked as a career development counselor at SUNY College of Technology at Utica/Rome from 1980 to 1982 and assistant dean of students in residence/part-time career counselor at SUNY Geneseo from 1978 to 1980.
Constantine earned an educational specialist (Ed.S) and master’s degree from the University of Albany. The program is a two-year, 60-credit hour program in counseling and student personnel services, including a full-year externship. Constantine also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Albany.
Constantine replaced Laurie Woodward, who accepted a position as director of the student union at the University of Oregon this past spring. Director of Campus Recreation Todd Pfingsten served as interim director of Centennial Student Union from May 30 to Oct. 13.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,409 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
