Nov. 20-23: ‘Betrayal’ presented in Andreas Theatre

Harold Pinter’s play makes its Minnesota State Mankato debut.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre and Dance News Release, 11-8-2013

The Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre & Dance will present Harold Pinter’s “Betrayal” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 20-23, in the Andreas Theatre of the Earley Center for Performing Arts.

The play begins in the present, with the meeting of Emma and Jerry, whose long-time affair ended two years earlier. Emma's marriage to Robert, Jerry's best friend, is now breaking up and she needs someone to talk to. In a series of contiguous scenes, the play then moves backward in time, bringing into different perspective some of the events that got them to where they are. This is its Minnesota State Mankato debut.

“Betrayal” is directed by second-year MFA Directing candidate Rusty Ruth, who last year directed “November,” also in the Studio season. In the three lead roles are Carter Allen, senior BFA Acting candidate, Ben Stasny, junior BFA Acting candidate, and Amanda Forman, senior BFA Acting candidate. “Betrayal” is currently being revived on Broadway starring Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz.

Individual tickets for “Betrayal” are $10 regular, $9 for senior citizens, youth 16 and under and groups of 15 or more, and $8 for current Minnesota State students. Tickets may be purchased online at or by calling or stopping by the Theatre & Dance Box Office from 4-6 p.m., Monday-Friday, in the lobby of the Earley Center. Call 507-389-6661. Note: Discounted tickets must be purchased by calling or stopping by the box office.
