Friday evening Residence Hall Incident
Police investigation of Friday, Nov. 15 incident is ongoing.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS AS OF 6 P.M. ON FRIDAY, NOV. 15, 2013:
Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato Department of Public Safety responded to an incident at Minnesota State University, Mankato’s McElroy Residence Community this afternoon in which a non-student received non-life threatening lacerations to his hand.
Information collected at this time indicates the incident was not random.
At the time the incident occurred, Minnesota State Mankato Campus Security followed campus policy and issued an alert advising all students, faculty and staff to “shelter in place,” so people would remain where they were. Parents of students also received the message.
Campus security has been working with local law enforcement and has now lifted the “shelter in place” alert.
According to the Mankato Department of Public Safety, the investigation is ongoing. Those with any information are asked to call the Mankato police at 911 or 507-387-8780.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,409 students, is part of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system, which comprises 31 state institutions.
