Nov. 19: Study Abroad Awards Opportunities

Two sessions to be held in Career Development Center.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, Lisa Mayorga from Washington D.C. will be hosting informational sessions on campus to provide students, faculty and staff with more information about the incredible study abroad funding opportunities available through the Boren Awards.

The Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 for undergraduate students to study in countries that are generally underrepresented in study abroad.

A special summer award of up to $8,000 is available to STEM major students.

The Boren Fellowships provide graduate students up to $30,000 to add an important international and language component to their graduate studies.

African Languages Initiative funding is also available to both undergraduate and graduate students to study Akan/Twi, French, Hausa, Portuguese, Swahili, Wolof, Yoruba or Zulu.

Mayorga  will hold the following sessions on Tuesday, Nov. 19 in the Career Development Center (209 Wigley Administration Building):

  • 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. Boren Scholarships for undergraduate students
  • 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Boren Fellowships for graduate students
