Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Theatre & Dance News Release, 12-30-2013

Mankato, Minn. -- Winner of multiple Tony Awards, including Best Musical, "Kiss of the Spider Woman" (book by Terrence McNally, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb) transforms a harrowing tale of persecution into a dazzling spectacle.

Cell mates in a Latin American prison, Valentin is a tough revolutionary and Molina is an unabashed homosexual serving eight years for deviant behavior. Molina shares his fantasies about an actress, Aurora, with Valentin. One of her roles is a "spider woman" who kills with a kiss.

Kander and Ebb is the team behind Chicago and Cabaret. This is this play's Minnesota State Mankato debut.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 30, 31, and Feb. 1 and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 2.

The second weekend features performances at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 5, 6, 7, 8 and at 2 p.m. on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9.
