Tobacco-Free and Smoke-Free Campus

Facilities Management sends policy reminder.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Media Relations Office Announcement, 1-28-2014

The Physical Plant Office in Facilities Management reminds faculty, staff and students that Minnesota State Mankato is a tobacco-free and smoke-free campus.

Minnesota State Mankato prohibits smoking, tobacco use and tobacco sale (including the use or sale of smokeless tobacco products) on university property or in vehicles the university owns, operates or leases.

The campus began a community policy education and cessation campaign at the start of fall semester 2011, and the policy went into effect on Jan. 1, 2012. An exemption for residence hall residents allowed for those residents to smoke outside residence halls (but at least 15 feet from entrances) until May 15, 2012. That exemption no longer exists.
