April 12: 'Aviation Celebration'
Event is fundraiser for Maverick Flight Team's May trip to National Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference.

Mankato, Minn. – The Minnesota State University, Mankato Maverick Flight Team is holding a fundraising event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Mankato Regional Airport (3030 Airport Road) to raise money to help the team attend the National Intercollegiate Flying Association’s (NIFA) National Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON) that will be held in Columbus, Ohio, in May.
The Maverick Flight Team, a student aviation organization, invites the community to attend the April 12 “Aviation Celebration” event, which includes a $5 pancake breakfast (free for those 18 and under) and a silent auction. All proceeds raised will help the Maverick Flight team attend the May SAFECON.
Activities planned for the April 12 Aviation Celebration include a fly-in, closed-landing competition and many other aviation-related events. The general public is invited to stay and watch the landings. (In case of inclement weather, flight events may be cancelled.)
Participating aviation organizations include Mankato Southern Minnesota Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) chapter 642 and the following Minnesota State Mankato student aviation organizations: the Women in Aviation Northern Lights Chapter, the Alpha Eta Rho Mu Kappa Tau Chapter, Aviation Club and Maverick Flight Team.
Event sponsors include North Star Aviation, Minnesota Aviation Career Education Camp, EAA Chapter 642 and Minnesota State Mankato’s Department of Aviation, which is part the College of Education.
