March 29: Mavericks After Dark Event to Feature 'Time Warp' Activities

Event begins at 9 p.m. Saturday in Centennial Student Union. The general public is invited.

Mankato, Minn. -- A "Mavericks Time Warp" event that will feature theme events from the 1950s, 1980s and other time periods will be held beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 in the lower level of Minnesota State University, Mankato's Centennial Student Union, and the general public is invited.

During the event, free parking is available in all Gold and pay lots in immediate proximity to the Centennial Student Union. For additional parking information please visit the parking website.

The event will include a 1950s diner with free assorted finger sandwiches, along with potato chips, a 1980s dance party and a classy "Great Gatsby" party with punch and cake.

A tarot reader will be on hand to read people’s past and future. For horror film fans, old horror movie clips will be shown in the TV lounge.

Participants will be able to decorate their own mask with feathers and jewels, and if they are willing, take an old-time photo.

The event is one of seven "Mavericks After Dark" events sponsored each year by IMPACT, a student programming board advised by staff in the Student Activities Office at Centennial Student Union. These events, funded by student activity fees, are intended to provide an alternative to at-risk behaviors. The programming is part of an ongoing effort at Minnesota State Mankato to create a positive campus environment through fun and engaging activities.
