Minnesota State Mankato to Award 2,413 Degrees at End of Spring Semester

Graduation ceremonies set for Saturday, May 10.

Mankato, Minn. –Minnesota State University, Mankato will award 2,413 degrees at the end of the spring 2014 semester, with approximately 1,600 students participating in three graduation ceremonies on Saturday, May 10 in Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena.

Students in the colleges of Arts & Humanities and Science, Engineering & Technology will take part in the 9 a.m. ceremony; those in the colleges of Allied Health & Nursing and Education will participate in the noon event; and students in the colleges of Business and Social & Behavioral Sciences will be graduated in the 3 p.m. ceremony.

Candidates for graduate degrees will graduate with the college of their affiliation.

Advanced degrees to be awarded include two doctorate of education degrees and two doctorate of psychology degrees.

Graduate degrees to be awarded include 116 master of arts degrees, 14 master of fine arts degrees, three master of arts in teaching degrees, 15 master of business administration degrees, 21 master of public administration degrees, 172 master of science degrees, two master of music degrees, nine master of science in nursing degrees and 28 specialist in educational leadership degrees.

To be awarded at the undergraduate level are 132 bachelor of arts degrees, 49 bachelor of fine arts degrees, 16 bachelor of athletic training degrees, 1,676 bachelor of science degrees, nine bachelor of science in general engineering, 21 bachelor of science in civil engineering degrees, three bachelor of science in computer engineering degrees, 14 bachelor of science in electrical engineering degrees, 31 bachelor of science in mechanical engineering degrees, 35 bachelor of science in social work degrees and 41 associate of arts degrees.

Undergraduate students receiving recognition will include 138 students graduating summa cum laude (3.8 grade point average and higher), 301 students graduating magna cum laude (grade point averages of 3.5 to 3.79) and 273 students graduating cum laude (grade point averages of 3.3 to 3.49).

Total Minnesota State Mankato degrees awarded for the 2013-’14 academic year are 4,051 (including 1,638 who were graduated in December 2013). (NOTE TO EDITORS: The number of graduates does not equal the number of degrees because some students earn more than one degree.)
