Minnesota State University, Mankato Athletic Communications News Release, 5-22-2014

Mankato, Minn. --- The Mankato community has come together in support of fund-raising efforts to offset anticipated medical and living expenses for former Minnesota State University, Mankato student-athlete Isaac Kolstad and his family.

Kolstad, a linebacker who played football for the Mavericks the last three seasons and is a recent graduate of the school, suffered life-threatening head injuries that were sustained as a result of an incident that occurred in downtown Mankato on May 11, and he is currently in critical condition at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

A community fund-raising event has been scheduled for June 1 in Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State Mankato from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a silent auction of sports memorabilia items, collected from Minnesota State Mankato, National Football League teams, National Hockey League teams, Major League Baseball teams, National Basketball Association teams and other organizations will take place during that event. There is no charge for admission, but a "free will" donation will be accepted and a light meal will be served throughout the event.

Supporters unable to attend the fundraising event at can make donations to their YouCaring website HERE.

Donations can also be be made at any Mankato Wells Fargo location where an account for the family has been set up.
