Minnesota State University, Mankato Media Relations Office Announcement, 9-12-2014

Mankato, Minn. -- Minnesota State University, Mankato will be hosting its annual Fall Study Abroad Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along the MavAve in the Centennial Student Union.

Representatives from select study abroad organizations and more than 10 Minnesota State Mankato colleges/departments will be present to showcase their international program options and to talk with students interested in studying abroad.

The fair will highlight a wide variety of international study and domestic exchange opportunities, including short-term, summer programs, internship opportunities, semester or year-long programs and the National Student Exchange (NSE) program. The fair is a great chance for students to meet and talk with knowledgeable people about studying abroad.

In an increasingly globalized world, studying abroad helps students gain valuable cross-cultural competencies. According to noted travel specialist Rick Steves, writing in an issue of USA Today: “If we want a new generation of leaders and innovators who can be effective in an ever more globalized world, sending our students overseas is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.”

Students are encouraged to come to the fair to learn about the many international and domestic exchange opportunities available through this unique “one-stop-shopping” event.
