Oct. 19: University Concert Bands

Performance will be in Halling Recital Hall.

Mankato, Minn. – The University Concert Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform Sunday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave. The bands are under the direction of Dr. Amy Roisum Foley, Michael Thursby, and Erik Root.

The Concert Wind Ensemble will present a folk-themed concert. Selections include the "Second Suite in F" by Gustav Holst, "American Hymnsong Suite" by Dwayne S. Milburn and "At Kitty O’Shea’s (Irish Folksong Suite)" by Johan de Meij.

The Symphonic Band will present folk tunes and music from around the world with music from the United States, Central Europe, and Greece. Selections include "The Blues Factory" by Jacob de Haan, "the Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie Polka" by Gorecki, arranged by Bill Simon, and "Greek Folk Song Suite" by Franco Cesarini.Concert admission is $9; $7 for students with a valid MavCard. Discount tickets are available online for university students. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged.
