Oct. 30: Good Thunder Reading Hosts Poet

Poet Robert Hass will answer questions about writing, present craft talk and give a reading.

Mankato, Minn -- On Thursday, Oct. 30, Nadine B. Andreas Visiting Writer poet Robert Hass will answer questions about writing, present a craft talk, and give a reading with creative nonfiction writer Elizabeth Horneber. All events are free and open to the public.

An informal question and answer session will be held in Centennial Student Union, room 202 from 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. She will doing craft talk from 3:00 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. in Centennial Student Union, Ostrander Auditorium.  She will be holding a reading and book signing from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Centennial Student Union, Room 245. Books will be available for purchase.

Robert Hass has published many books of poetry including "Field Guide," "Praise," "Human Wishes," and "Sun Under Wood," as well as three essay collections. His collection of poems "Time and Materials" won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Hass served as US Poet Laureate from 1995-1997.

Elizabeth Horneber co-hosts the KMSU Weekly Reader radio program and is the creative nonfiction editor of the "Blue Earth Review." She is a third-year MFA candidate in creative writing, concentrating in creative nonfiction, at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and the 2014-2015 Andreas Graduate Assistant.

The 2014–2015 Good Thunder Reading Series is funded by Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of English, College of Arts and Humanities, Office of Institutional Diversity, Library Services, the Nadine B. Andreas Endowment, the Eddice B. Barber Visiting Writer Endowment, the Robert C. Wright Endowment, Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, and individual donors. Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Minnesota State University offers additional assistance.
