Minnesota State University, Mankato Media Relations Office Announcement, 10-16-2014

The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State encourages all eligible employees to participate in our democratic process and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the general election. This year Minnesotans will elect a U.S. senator, U.S. House representatives, Minnesota House representatives, governor and state officers, in addition to many county and local officers.

A source for your all voting needs is the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State’s — where you can register to vote, request an absentee ballot, find your polling place location and more. An animated 2-minute video, Election Year in Minnesota, also provides information.

Employees have the right to take paid time off to vote and are not required to use personal or vacation time. Most polling places are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You also may vote early with an absentee ballot and avoid the lines at your polling place on Election Day.

You can register — or update your registration — online at You may also register at your polling place on Election Day.

The city of Mankato announced that it will provide passengers free-of-charge transportation on fixed-route buses on Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 4). This aligns with the bill passed by the Minnesota legislature this past spring, requiring free fixed-route bus service be offered during the general election.
