Nov. 17: Entrepreneur Film Festival

University’s College of Business is partnering with Made in Mankato to host free public event.

Mankato, Minn. – The College of Business at Minnesota State University, Mankato is partnering with Made in Mankato, a group of professional video producers, to host an Entrepreneur Film Festival at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17 in the University’s Ostrander Auditorium.

The Entrepreneur Film Festival is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with documentaries beginning at 7 p.m. A networking reception with the Made in Mankato film crew and featured entrepreneurs will follow the festival at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The event kicks off Global Entrepreneurship Week, which runs from Nov. 17-23. Global Entrepreneurship Week, according to its website,, is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.

Businesses featured in the film festival include Bent River Outfitter, Coffee Hag, Mankato Brewery, Mom & Pop’s Ice Cream, Natural Pathways, Nicollet Bike Shop, Kato Crossfit, Indigo Organics, Dork Den, and Salvage Sisters. The Minnesota State Mankato College of Business created the festival as a way to provide an opportunity for students and community members to learn about the diversity of small business in Mankato, highlight the creativity of a group of artists coming together in a very entrepreneurial way to support and promote Mankato small business and enhance networking skills between students and entrepreneurs.

The Entrepreneur Film Festival is also incorporated into the College of Business 2015 Big Ideas Challenge, which is a new venture competition for Minnesota State Mankato students to support, celebrate and promote their new and innovative business ideas. Winners compete for up to $10,000 in prize money. Made in Mankato is a group of professional video producers, film students and entrepreneurs who specialize in cinematic storytelling to showcase the stories of several unique small businesses created right here in Mankato.
