Nov. 20: Comedy Sportz Brings Improv Act to Campus

Free public performance will be in Ostrander Auditorium.

Minnesota State University, Mankato Media Relations Office News Release, 11-13-2014

Mankato, Minn. – The Mankato area community is invited to join a unique sporting event – Comedy Sportz – as the Twin Cities comedy improv team comes to Minnesota State University, Mankato for a free public performance Thursday, Nov. 20.

The Comedy Sportz show will be at 7:45 p.m. in the Centennial Student Union Ostrander Auditorium. Parking is available in Lot 4 for a small fee.

Comedy Sportz describes its act on its website as one hour of unscripted comedy played as a sport. Two teams of comedians take suggestions from the audience and compete for the most points and biggest laughs. According to Comedy Sportz, suggestions must be clean, “or the referee could call the ‘Brown Bag Foul’ on you, and you’ll end up wearing a paper bag on your head.”

Offering family-friendly, positive entertainment that is “guaranteed to please even the toughest crowd,” Comedy Sportz is co-sponsored by IMPACT – the student programming committee at Minnesota State Mankato – and the university’s Office of New Students and Family Programs.
