Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music News Release, 11-25-2014

Mankato, Minn. The Chamber Singers, University Chorale and Concert Choir will present a Holiday Choral Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 623 South Broad St. The program will include carols and seasonal music from other countries.

Chamber Singers and Concert Choir director Dr. David Dickau says, “This concert gives the choral groups an opportunity to do music of the season along with a mix from Renaissance to contemporary.” Their portion of the concert will feature beautiful works from past centuries by Mendelssohn and Sweelinck, along with a blend of familiar songs of the season. The concert concludes with an exciting piece from East Africa, complete with staging and dancing.

Rodney Urtel directs the University Chorale, a non-auditioned choir comprised of University students from across the campus. The group will be performing Christmas songs from around the world including English traditional carols and a folk carol from the Catalonia region in the northeast of Spain.

Concert admission is $9, $7 for students with a valid MavCard, and $6 for other students (K – 12) and children. Discount tickets are available online for University students.
