Dec. 13: NCAA Div. II Football Semifinals

Mavericks will host Concord (W. Va.) at 2 p.m. Saturday at Blakeslee Stadium.

Mankato, Minn. -- The undefeated Minnesota State University, Mankato football team (13-0 overall) will play host to unbeaten Concord (W. Va.), which also has a 13-0 overall record, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Blakeslee Stadium in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II football playoffs. Tickets are for sale online now.

(The Minnesota State Student Association will give away 500 student tickets to Saturday's game starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 in the MSSA office on the second floor of Centennial Student Union.)

Minnesota State Mankato defeated Minnesota Duluth 44-17 on Saturday (Dec. 6) at Blakeslee Stadium to advance to the semifinal round. A week earlier (Nov. 29), the Mavericks defeated visiting Pittsburg State 24-21 in overtime to earn a berth in the quarterfinal against Minnesota Duluth.

Concord, the No. 1 seed out of Super Regional One, advanced to the NCAA semifinals after posting a 32-26 win over Bloomsburg.

The winner of Saturday's game will earn a berth in the NCAA Division II national championship game, which will be played at 3 p.m. (Central time) on Saturday, Dec. 20 in Kansas City, Kan.

The opponent will be the winner of Saturday's 5:30 p.m. (Central time) NCAA Division II semifinal matchup between West Georgia (12-2) and Colorado State Pueblo (12-1).
