Feb. 10: Singer/songwriter Eric Koskinen
Koskinen’s performances feature “blue collar realism.”
Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Music News Release, 1-22-2015
Mankato, Minn. – Singer-songwriter Erik Koskinen performs with his band on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.
Jon Bream of the Minneapolis Star Tribune calls Erik Koskinen “…the state’s best pure country singer/songwriter ”, and Jim Walsh of MinnPost writes "The real deal: Erik Koskinen's authenticity comes through."
Since moving to Minneapolis eight years ago, Koskinen has amassed a following as a musician, songwriter, producer and engineer. With experience stemming from years of traveling north to south and coast-to-coast, Koskinen taps those adventures and encounters in his third album, "America Theatre."
Koskinen’s album is a lyrical and musical metaphor of American’s theaters of war, of history, of relationships, and of the reflections in the mirror. Erik Koskinen channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor.
Concert admission is $12; $11 for students with a valid MavCARD. Discount tickets are available online for University students. Those who wish to purchase tickets online should go to www.mnsu.edu/music. For more information, call the Performance Series office, 507-389-5549.
